Group Operations Engineer, Mechanical

The Operations Engineer, Mechanical will be responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring of the global operating processes for mechanical systems and systems of work. The role will provide technical support to site based operations team in all countries. Leading on root cause analysis following failures or incidents ensuring systematic process is followed to maximise learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, evaluate, review existing, new, and upcoming projects to ensure appropriate consideration is given to equipment selection and use.
  • Ensure operational teams have sufficient in country support to operate and maintain the equipment deployed within their facilities.
  • Working with site teams, specifically site engineering managers, to provide technical support and direction to ensure the best operational practices are adopted effectively.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning in order to eliminate failures in electrical systems.
  • Drive high quality of service into the heart of mechanical engineering activities. Strive to continuously improve the quality of mechanical management systems and reduce impact of incidents related to mechanical systems.
  • Ensure electrical systems remain fully available at all times.
  • Review and develop all aspects of the clients mechanical engineering policies and procedures. Research and deploy the best in class approaches for modern maintenance strategies. Leverage technology developments to enhance our understanding and efficient operation of equipment.

You are fluent in both written and spoken English, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a natural ability to lead and influence others. You bring strong practical knowledge of mechanical management strategies and a passion for driving engineering excellence. You actively promote mechanical engineering best practices and champion a culture of Continuous Improvement. As a tenacious and persuasive change agent, you lead with a coaching mindset, encouraging innovation and adaptability across teams.

Your communication style is clear, concise, and consistent, enabling you to effectively engage with stakeholders and translate complex technical concepts into actionable outcomes.

Key Requirements:

  • Formal tertiary qualification in a mechanical discipline
  • Experience in managing critical systems maintenance
  • Recent proven experience of operating mechanical infrastructure
  • Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring to develop effective use of asset management systems
  • Member of a recognised professional body for mechanical engineering
